Earlier this month Fr. Robert Sirico delivered an address to the Liberty Forum of Silicon Valley titled, ‘Defending the Free Market: The Moral Case for a Free Economy’.
The talk begins with an account of a formative childhood experience which first kindled in him a passion for justice. Fr. Robert then describes his own journey from left-wing activism to becoming an advocate for free markets. He describes how exploring questions at the heart of economic theory caused him to look again at more ultimate questions, and how these questions about the nature of the human person led him back to religious faith. Following the talk there is an engaging question and answer period covering questions of faith and freedom as well as church and state.
If you enjoyed this talk and would like to dig deeper be sure and check out Fr. Robert’s book of the same title: Defending the Free Market: The Moral Case for a Free Economy.
